SCU Law Exam Taking Software Computer Requirements - Windows OS

Please note: Always refer to Examsoft's official Examplify requirements page, Examplify Minimum System Requirements and get the latest release notes. Law Technology and the Office of Assessment always will refer to the minimum system requirements set by Examsoft.

Windows-based PC: Examsoft Examplify minimum requirements (2024/2025)
Windows 10 (Version 21H2) compatible with 3.X
Windows 11 (Version 21H2) compatible with 3.X
Windows 11 (Version 22H2, 23H2) compatible with 3.X

50 Gigabytes (GB) of free space ( 100 GB or more is highly recommended)
8 Gigabytes of RAM minimum (16 GB highly recommended)
CPU equivalent to Intel i7 or higher; recommended i7

*Examplify version 3.4 or later is the base version for SCU LAW Exams for Summer/Fall 2024. 

WARNING: Examsoft Examplify DOES NOT run on CPU ARM-based computers, Chrome OS, Android, or Linux. Also, July Bar takers take note. Laptops using 12th Gen Intel CPUs are not supported. Call your local  State Bar or Examsoft for more information or help getting the Examplify version that does work with 12th Intel ARM-based CPUs.

Vendor full specs:
  1. Operating System: 64-bit Versions of Windows 10 or later
  2. Alternate versions of Windows 10, such as Windows RT and Windows 10 S, are NOT supported at this time.
  3. Only genuine, U.S.-English versions of Windows Operating Systems are supported.
  4. ExamSoft does not support Tablet devices other than Surface Pro as detailed below
  5. CPU Processor: 2.0+ ghz Intel i3 processor or equivalent
  6. RAM: 8GB or higher ( 16 GB or higher recommended)
  7. Hard Drive: 2GB of available space. 25 GB or more recommended
  8. For onsite support, and to back up the answer files to USB, a working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adaptor)
  9. For technical troubleshooting, account passwords, including BitLocker keys, may be required.
  10. Internet connection for Download, Registration, Exam Download and Upload.
  11. Examplify cannot be run within virtualized environments or environments that require persistent network (local or otherwise) connections during secure exams. This includes but is not limited to, VMWare, Parallels, Citrix workspace, Virtual Disks, Streamed images, etc.
  12. Screen Resolution should be at least 1920 x 1080
  13. Administrator-level account permissions (Instructions)
  14. If your institution does not allow the use of Microsoft Surface devices, Surface Pro and Surface Books are NOT permitted. Surface laptops that come with non-detachable keyboards are permitted. Non-Pro Surface devices are not supported for ANY institution.

NOTE: SCU LAW does not recommend using Microsoft Surface Pro tablet/notebooks but if you do decide to use one, then read the requirements below.
Surface Pro:
  1. Surface Pro 4  or later (Non-Pro Surface devices are NOT supported) - MAKE SURE IT IS RUNNING FULL VERSION OF WINDOWS 10/11 NOT WINDOWS RT or WINDOWS S
  2. External Keyboard (USB or Bluetooth) required. Bluetooth keyboards must be paired prior to launching exam
  3. Hard Drive: 256 GB (make sure you have at least 20% of free space)
  4. Adobe Reader is required for exams containing PDF attachments
  5. Internet connection for Examsoft exam taking software Download, Registration, Exam Download and Upload
  6. Screen Resolution must be 1920x1080 (warning: text resize during exam may not work fully)
  7. Administrator level account permissions to your local account
*If Exam ID/Monitor feature enabled: Webcam is required; Microphone (no headphones)
