SCU Law Exam Taking Software Computer Requirements - Windows OS

Please note: Always refer to Examsoft's official Examplify requirements page, Examplify Minimum System Requirements and get the latest release notes. Law Technology and the Office of Assessment always will refer to the minimum system requirementsn (MSR) set by Examsoft.

Windows-based PC: Examsoft Examplify minimum requirements (2025/2026)

Windows 10  is no longer support by Examsoft (Version 22H4) compatible with 3.X (Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 on 10/14/2025)

Windows 11 (Version 22H2, 24H2 or later) compatible with 3.8X or later

50 Gigabytes (GB) of free space ( 100 GB or more is highly recommended)
8 Gigabytes of RAM minimum (16 GB highly recommended)
Latest CPU equivalent to Intel i5 or higher; recommended i7 

*Examplify version 3.8X is the base version for SCU LAW Exams for Fall 2025/Spring 2026. 

WARNING: Examsoft Examplify for Windows DOES NOT run correctly on Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU-based computers. In addition, Examplify DOES NOT run on Chrome OS, Android, or Linux. Also, July Bar takers take note. 

Microsoft will be ending support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025 and all Examplify versions 3.8x and later do not support ARM and Windows 10.

Vendor full specs:

1. Operating System: 64-bit Versions of Windows 11 or later
   
2. Alternate versions of Windows 10, such as Windows RT and Windows 10 S, are NOT supported ever.
   
3. Windows 10 OS running on ARM-based computers are not supported.
4. Only genuine, U.S.-English versions of Windows Operating Systems are supported.
   
5. ExamSoft does not support Tablet devices other than Surface Pro as detailed below
   
6. CPU Processor: 2.0+ ghz Intel i3 processor or equivalent
   
7. RAM: 8GB or higher ( 16 GB or higher recommended)
   
8. Hard Drive: 2GB of available space. 25 GB or more recommended
   
9. For onsite support, and to back up the answer files to USB, a working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adaptor)
   
10. For technical troubleshooting, account passwords, including BitLocker keys, may be required.
    
11. Internet connection for Download, Registration, Exam Download and Upload.
    
12. Examplify cannot be run within virtualized environments or environments that require persistent network (local or otherwise) connections during secure exams. This includes but is not limited to, VMWare, Parallels, Citrix workspace, Virtual Disks, Streamed images, etc.
    
13. Screen Resolution should be at least 1920 x 1080
    
14. Administrator-level account permissions (Instructions)
    
15. If your institution does not allow the use of Microsoft Surface devices, Surface Pro and Surface Books are NOT permitted. Surface laptops that come with non-detachable keyboards are permitted. Non-Pro Surface devices are not supported for ANY institution.

NOTE: SCU LAW does not recommend using Microsoft Surface Pro tablet/notebooks but if you do decide to use one, then read the requirements below.

Surface Pro:

1. Surface Pro 4  or later (Non-Pro Surface devices are NOT supported) - MAKE SURE IT IS RUNNING FULL VERSION OF WINDOWS 10/11 NOT WINDOWS RT or WINDOWS S
   
2. External Keyboard (USB or Bluetooth) required. Bluetooth keyboards must be paired prior to launching exam
   
3. Hard Drive: 256 GB (make sure you have at least 20% of free space)
   
4. Adobe Reader is required for exams containing PDF attachments
   
5. Internet connection for Examsoft exam taking software Download, Registration, Exam Download and Upload
   
6. Screen Resolution must be 1920x1080 (warning: text resize during exam may not work fully)
   
7. Administrator level account permissions to your local account

*If Exam ID/Monitor feature enabled: Webcam is required; Microphone (no headphones)

Did you know that Examplify for Windows runs on ARM and/or Intel? If you download the installer from the Examsoft exam taker portal and Examplify does not install, then verify your CPU first and download the correct installer from here. If you continue to still have issues, then contact Examsoft support. Please note if your computer is ARM based and is running Windows 10 OS as of October 2025, Examsoft Examplify will have issues or simply not run.
