I was teaching and ran into an issue during my class. Where can I report this?
Please create a ticket at lawtechelpdesk.scu.edu with the issue that you encountered. Please be as descriptive as possible as that will help us diagnose and troubleshoot the issue. Ideally, if you run into the issue during your class, you can reach us at 408-554-5728, M-F, 9am to 4pm during the normal academic year. After 4pm, then you will need to contact the main university Media Services department 408-554-4520. The keyboard and mouse are not working in the classroom. Can you help?
Please try restarting the computer by pressing the power button until it shuts off. Then press power again to restart. The desktop computer is located in the instructors podium and the power button is labeled. If you are still having issues, please contact us at 408-554-5762.
The projector is on in the classroom but nothing is being displayed. What do I do?
The previous instructor may have connected their laptop and did not shut off the system. Select PC as your source on the touchscreen in the classroom. If you still see nothing, check to see that the desktop is powered on in the classroom. If you are still having issues, please contact us at 408-554-5762.
We need onsite technical support for an event, conference, do you provide that?
Law Technology does not but SCU's Media Services on campus does. Please contact them at 408-554-4520. If you have your own videographer that will record your sessions and needs an audio input, then coordinate with SCU Media Services at 408-554-4520.
I need to schedule a conference call, what do I need?
Depending on whether you need to hold video or phone conference, Zoom is highly recommended and support by SCU IT. Alternatively, you can create a free account at freeconferencecall.com which will provide you with a conference number that people can call into. Classrooms and study rooms in Charney hall do not have physical desktop phones so please plan accordingly. If your panel is being held in Charney Hall 102 and 103 in a combined room configuration, then Law Technology can arrange to set up the room. Please contact the Law Technology help desk way in advance to schedule your consultation and/or setup at 408-554-5762, via email lawtechhelpdesk@scu.edu, submit a ticket at lawtechhelpdesk.scu.edu, or stop by the Tsai Info and Law Tech help desk. I need recording setup for my class or event, how do I go about that?
Please create a ticket at lawtechhelpdesk.scu.edu with your request information. We do our best to accommodate last minute recordings, but it is always not possible. Semester recordings are setup to post to the Law professor's Camino page. Students will either access the link on the Law professor's Camino page if the recording is setup for the semester. If it is a one time event, then we can provide you with the link and are generally open to all users. Permissions are reviewed by Law Technology and SCU Media Services so inquire at lawtechhelpdesk@scu.edu if you have special permission requests.
NOTE: If you switch rooms, then immediately alert Law Technology at
lawtechelpdesk@scu.edu so we can configure the recording settings to the new room. The original recording link provided to you will not change.
Do you provide streaming of an event or class?
Yes. If you are in one of our classrooms, we can setup a livestream. Please create a ticket at lawtechhelpdesk.scu.edu with your request information. See our page on what is needed for your recording to be processed. Once the stream has completed, the video is available afterwards as well using the same link we provide you.
